Baby Talk

Well I truly am jumping back on the wagon and promise to post at LEAST once a week.

I’m preggo and thought I would copy several friends that have posted “baby blogs” It is more for me, but hopefully will help get me back into the blogging world.
How far along am I today? 13 weeks 1 day.
What is the favorite thing you ate today? I had left over spinach and artichoke dip for breakfast. It was delicious!
How’s the food stuff coming along? Cravings? Aversions? Not any real issues with food. Bar-b-que sounds gross and even the thought if makes me want to gag. But food has been super easy! No morning sickness so far and very little nausea.
Any new symptoms this past week? I have started having bad back pain. I think it is due to an old injury from working at a nurse-tech at KU. I have a cold =(.
What about the exercise routine? Well I have been working out with a trainer and loving it, and then doing some cardio on my own. However, the last 3 weeks I have worked out with the trainer I am miserable afterwards due to my back pain. I need to re-think keeping up with the trainer, or extremely decrease the workouts. I just hurt so bad in the following few days I don’t do any cardio because it hurts to move.
Sleep…is it good/bad/mediocre? Good, besides getting up to pee frequently.
How big is the baby, any major milestones for baby? Baby is the size of a peach, is forming fingerprints and can move his/her arms and legs!
How about the baby’s activity? I’m sure he/she is active, but I can’t feel the activity yet.
Did anything special (besides the baby growing!) happen to me this week? Yesterday was Christmas! We announced on FB we are expecting. Baby got a book and a HUGE teddy bear. It was nice to see all our family, but I had to work Christmas eve and only got 2 hours of sleep total yesterday- so I’m pretty sure that is why I have a cold now. Oh well it was worth it! Merry Christmas!

Here are my pregnancy pics so far

We Moved!
Dan and I decided to rent a cute little home in Roeland park. We love it so far. It has hardwoods-which are WAY easier than the white carpet our apartment had, a cute fireplace, and two bedrooms. Mira is finally adjusting and will now go in the back yard without much pushing and prodding. She now plays this cute little game where when we go to let her inside she runs back out into the yard and goes all crazy. She is still super skiddish in the house and often says in her kennel or lays in her bed. She has started getting better though and sometimes will come sit with dan and I on the couch. She’s crazy. What can I say…we do what we can with her neurotic dog personality. And just love her anyway!

Here is a recent pic of us with our crazy mutt!

I know I'm dreaming but wouldn't it be nice?

So my birthday is in ONE week...Yes, I know that makes it on valentines day. I used to think it was great as a kid because most the day of school was party or distracted because of the upcoming party. Now I think it is a bit annoying that I cannot choose the resturant of my choice without a deciding a month in advance so we can get reservations.
So if you haven't me presents!!!!! =) j.k. of course.
However, tonight while I have been LABORING away at work. (Slow night) I found what I truly want this year. Now I realize it would involve us buying a house, winning the lotto so I could stock it, and probably quitting my job so I could have all the time in the world to devote to my projects. But for your viewing pleasure here is the one true desire of my heart (although God, and my husband and family of course are more true desires that this)

There you go. BLISS. BEAUTIFUL, fully stocked, well organized CRAFT ROOMS.... makes my heart leap for joy. =)
Awww I can smell the designer paper, see the beautiful fabrics and hear the zipping of my machine now.
Wouldn't it be nice.

So last night I had an very weird thing happen. I was at the gym running on the treadmill and when I went to put in my ear buds they gave me a not so subtle electric shock. I was very surprised and thought it may have to do with the volume. Silly me put them back in and continued to get shocked....GO FIGURE. Well I stopped using them promptly and continued my run. However, every time I would touch the metal on the treadmill I would shock myself. The hair on my arms and neck was standing on end. Finally a little freaked out I got off the treadmill to touch the rubber mats thinking that would help. It did so I finished my work out and went home. I felt fine, showered, but then when I went to dry my hair and plug in my dryer electricity jumped out of the outlet and zapped my fingers making them completely numb. I was slightly (I mean very) scared and called my mom who very coolly told me I was probably going to be one of those people who spontaneously combust. THANKS MOM.
Anyway, I finally dried my hair but wearing rubber souled shoes... I figured that would ground me right? But for the rest of the night I felt the effects of my electric events. My skin periodically felt like a current was running across it making me feel itchy and I continued to shock people/my poor dog that I encountered. Thankfully it wasn't a rainy night and I didn't get struck by lightning... cause I am guessing that was the next step on my path last night. I was also thankful for my very funny friend Jacky who immediately took the situation seriously (After reading my facebook status) and did some research on "Minor electric shocks" Thanks friend! =)
Here is a link to spontaneous combustion just for you to read up on

So its been awhile

I kinda failed in the blogging world for the last few weeks of 2009. But here we are in 2010!!! I have begun a new hobby. I have started making baby quilts- or stroller/car seat blankets and bibs. I am also getting ready to open an etsy site and a blog. and Now- to answer the obvious question I am not pregnant! Just needed a new hobby and choose this. Mainly because so many people around me are having babies and this makes good presents and hopefully a little moolah on the side. SaSaBlue is a play on my name. My little pal Fletcher calls me SaSa for Laurisa and Blue cause it is way easier than Ballew. So please check out my sites in the upcomming months for info and baby shower gifts!
Nothing else too exciting is going on....oh yeah, my gma did wreck my car (and hers) in a little driveway miscommunication which involved a firm discussion on her desire for me to pull into the garage and me refusing. And her trying to straighten up her car, forgetting it was in reverse while talking to me, it rolling towards my car and then her hitting the gas instead of the break sealing the deal and creating two wounded vehicles! Fun times. Anyhow...HAPPY NEW YEAR. More to come soon!
